Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 June 2026 · Policy version 1.0.0

PTE-24 ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered preparation platform for the PTE Academic English test. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. PTE-24 is an independent test-preparation product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Pearson PLC, the owner of the PTE Academic test.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information — name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), country, timezone, target score, and exam date.
  • Voice recordings — audio of your spoken responses to Speaking practice questions, captured only after you grant explicit consent (see Section 4).
  • Written responses — text you submit for Writing and Reading/Listening tasks.
  • Practice and scoring data — which questions you've attempted, your scores, AI-generated feedback, and progress history.
  • Billing information — your subscription plan and status. Card and payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser/user-agent string, and timestamps, primarily collected to secure your account and to log consent (Section 4).
  • Cookies — see Section 7.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: operate the practice and exam features you use; generate AI scores and written feedback on your attempts; track your progress over time; process payments and manage your subscription; secure your account and investigate abuse; send service emails (verification, password reset, billing receipts); and comply with legal obligations.

3. AI Processing & Third-Party Service Providers

Scoring your attempts requires sending the relevant response (audio or text) to specialised third-party processors. We use:

  • Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services — converts your speaking recordings to text (speech-to-text) for pronunciation and fluency scoring, and generates the synthetic audio used in listening questions.
  • Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service — scores written responses (essays, summaries) and generates your written feedback. This is our primary AI scoring provider.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — used as a fallback scoring provider if Azure OpenAI is unavailable.
  • ElevenLabs — generates some listening-question audio from admin-authored text (does not process your personal responses).
  • Cloudflare R2 — private cloud storage for your audio recordings (see retention periods in Section 5).
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments and billing.
  • Kickbox — verifies that the email address you register with is valid and deliverable.
  • Postmark — delivers transactional emails (verification, password reset, receipts).
  • Microsoft Clarity — anonymised website usage analytics on our marketing pages only. Clarity is never loaded on practice or exam pages.
  • Flare & Better Uptime — error monitoring and uptime monitoring for our own engineering operations.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not share your recordings or responses with these providers for any purpose other than delivering the scoring and infrastructure described above.

4. Voice Recordings & Your Consent

Voice recordings are biometric data and receive special protection under data protection law (e.g. UK/EU GDPR Article 9; Philippines Data Privacy Act, RA 10173). Before you can record any Speaking response, we show you a consent screen and require you to explicitly accept. If you decline, you are returned to the practice menu and no recording takes place. When you accept, we log the consent record — including the date and time, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the version of this policy you agreed to — so we can demonstrate that consent was properly obtained. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (Section 6); this immediately and permanently removes your consent records along with your other personal data.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Practice-mode audio recordings are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after they're recorded.
  • Full Mock exam audio recordings are automatically and permanently deleted 90 days after they're recorded.
  • Your written responses, scores, and progress history are kept for as long as your account is active, so you can track improvement over time.
  • Account and billing records are kept for as long as required to comply with our financial and legal obligations.

6. Your Rights & Account Deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time from your Account settings. Once requested:

  • You are signed out immediately, and the request is processed within 7 days.
  • All of your stored audio recordings are permanently deleted.
  • Your active subscription is cancelled.
  • Your practice attempts and scores are deleted, and your consent records are permanently removed.
  • Your account record is anonymised (name, email, and profile details are cleared) rather than fully removed from our database, solely so we can maintain accurate financial and audit records as required by law. The anonymised record can no longer be linked back to you.

To exercise any other privacy right, or if you have a complaint about how we handle your data, contact us using the details in Section 11. If you are in the EU/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in, a security cookie (CSRF token) to protect form submissions, and a preference cookie that remembers your light/dark theme choice for up to one year. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

PTE-24 is intended for users aged 16 and over. If you are below the age at which your country's law permits you to consent to data processing on your own behalf, you may only use the Service under the supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees to this policy on your behalf.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS), restricted database access, and regular encrypted backups. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to continually improve our protections.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, ask for your renewed consent before you record any further Speaking responses.
